1. Who we are

iKey is an iOS keyboard extension developed and operated by Zülküf Demirhan ("we", "us", or "our"). iKey provides real-time translation directly within iOS apps using a custom keyboard extension.

By downloading or using iKey, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

3. How we use your information

We use the limited information we process solely to:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Translation data & keyboard input

Important: iKey does not record what you type. The keyboard extension only processes text when you explicitly tap the Translate button. General keystrokes are handled entirely on-device and never sent anywhere.

When you tap Translate:

  1. The text in the input field is sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker proxy.
  2. The proxy forwards the request to the translation engine.
  3. The translated result is returned to your device.
  4. The original and translated text are stored only locally on your device in your Translation History (up to 50 entries).
  5. Our servers do not retain any copy of the text after the response is sent.

Why does the keyboard need Full Access?

Apple requires keyboard extensions to have "Full Access" enabled before they can make network requests. This is a system-level requirement — not a permission we use to read your general typing. Full Access is exclusively used to allow the translation request to reach our server.

Note: If you do not grant Full Access, the translation feature will not work. All other keyboard functionality (typing, layout switching) works without Full Access.

5. Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share minimal data only with the following parties as necessary to operate the service:

Cloudflare

Translation requests are routed through a Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare processes these requests in-transit. Cloudflare's Privacy Policy applies to their infrastructure handling. No personal identifiers are attached to requests.

Apple

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We receive only a token confirming whether your subscription is active — no payment details are shared with us. Apple's Privacy Policy governs their data handling.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process (e.g., a court order or subpoena), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of iKey, our users, or the public.

6. Data storage and security

All user data (history, language preferences, settings) is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults within the App Group group.zulkufDemirhan.iKey. This data does not leave your device except for the translation text described above.

We take reasonable measures to protect data in transit:

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. However, we have designed the app to minimize the data transmitted in the first place.

7. In-app purchases and subscriptions

iKey offers optional premium subscriptions (Weekly, Monthly, Yearly) processed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We do not process payments directly and do not receive your credit card or billing information.

Subscription management, billing, and cancellations are handled by Apple. To manage or cancel your subscription:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find iKey and manage from there

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Any free trial will convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.

8. Children's privacy

iKey is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you via an in-app message or App Store update notes.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of iKey after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
